Directions

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Prepare the Crescent Dough
Unroll the crescent dough and pinch together any perforated seams. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into thin strips.

Wrap the Hot Dogs
Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving a small opening near the top for the mummy's face. Overlap some of the strips to create a fun wrapped mummy look.

Place on the Baking Sheet
Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Brush with Egg Wash
If desired, lightly brush the crescent dough with beaten egg for a golden, shiny finish.

Bake the Mummy Hot Dogs
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is puffed and golden brown.

Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let the mummy hot dogs cool for 2–3 minutes.

Add the Candy Eyes
Attach two candy eyes in the opening near the top of each mummy using a small dot of ketchup or mustard to hold them in place.

Serve
Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce. Makes 8 Mummy Hot Dogs.

RECIPE TIPS

  • For the cutest mummy hot dogs, don't worry about wrapping the dough perfectly. Slightly uneven strips and overlapping layers make them look more like real mummy bandages and add to the fun Halloween theme.

  • Wait until the hot dogs have cooled for a couple of minutes before adding the candy eyes. This helps them stay in place without melting, giving your mummies the perfect spooky expression.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I make Mummy Hot Dogs ahead of time?

  • Yes! You can wrap the hot dogs in the crescent dough a few hours ahead of time and refrigerate them until you're ready to bake. Add the candy eyes after baking.

  • Can I use crescent sheet dough instead of crescent rolls?

  • Absolutely! Crescent sheet dough works great because you won't have to pinch together the seams before cutting it into strips.

  • How do I keep the candy eyes from melting?

  • Let the mummy hot dogs cool for 2–3 minutes before attaching the candy eyes with a small dot of ketchup, mustard, or frosting as edible glue.

  • Can I use little smokies instead of hot dogs?

  • Yes! Little Smokies make adorable mini mummy bites that are perfect for Halloween parties and appetizer trays.

  • Can I cook these in the air fryer?

  • Yes! Air fry at 350°F for 8–10 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. Watch them closely since air fryers can vary.

  • How long do Mummy Hot Dogs stay fresh?

  • Store leftover Mummy Hot Dogs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for the best texture.
