If you’re looking to go backwards from an Instant Pot to a slow cooker, it's not hard at all. Converting Recipes, seems like a sort of hit or miss process but there are some way to make sure your recipes work for you and that's by keeping track. Hold off on Dairy till the end Cooking dairy in the instant pot is a lot different then cooking it in a slow cooker or crock pot, milk and cheese tend to curdle if adding to the beginning of your recipe If a recipe calls for dairy ingredients make sure to add them once you have cooked and depressurized your Instant Pot. This is a must when trying to convert to an instant pot recipe. The high heat and pressure cause dairy and milk ingredients to scorch or curdle and that’s an easy way to ruin dinner really fast. Measure Your Recipes To Fit The Instant Pot When you want to convert to instant pot, you need to adjust your recipe to fit in what ever size instant pot you have You should think about how full the Instant Pot will get. If you are using anything that expands - (pasta, rice, beans) you will need to scale the recipe back to make sure it won’t overfill your Instant Pot. Most pasta's need about an 1/2 inch of water to cover them before cooking. Rice expands but if you add 1 cup rice, make sure you add 1 cup water, (or chicken broth) All recipes need 1 cup water to start. Say you are cooking spaghetti, you need to cover your noodles 1/2 inch over the top of your noodles, add your sauce and cook on 8 min. Browning your hamburger first. Pasta normally takes 6 to 8 min depending on how "done" you like your noodles. If they are to done the first time, cut back your time by 1 or 2 minutes until you know "your" cooking time. The instant pot isn't like a crock pot or oven it cooks twice as fast and leaves meats tender. The saute function is great for browning meat before pressure cooking. Or Searing the juices into your roast or pork loin. I even saute bacon in mine. (cooks wonderfully) but always be-careful with oil in your instant pot. It pops high and if you are looking at what you are cooking, it can burn you big time. (especially with bacon) I find using the saute button, cooks just like it would if you were using your stove top, but the heat is much more even. I make gravies in mine all the time. Just using saute. Keep Track Keep track of what works for you and what doesn't. Say you like your macaroni cooked on 6 minutes, (you like the texture) then say you want to make mac and cheese, you would fill your desired amount of macaroni, fill it with water so it covers 1/2 inch over your noodles, and pressure cook for 6 min, with an instant release, but say you want your noodles a little more done, so you would adjust your time for a min or 2 longer next time. When you make goulash, you would use the time you liked for your macaroni. (saute your meat till it's almost done) and then set for 6 min, instant release, (see how it works?) but always take note of what worked and what didn't for your instant pot. I have an 8 qt and a 3 qt) and both cook differently. Keep that in mind. Thank you so much for supporting my site Join Us for the latest updates: Facebook Pinterest YouTube Instagram LinkedIn

You'll need 3 tablespoons for this recipe. Step 2: Searing the Beef Roast Turn on your Instant Pot and select the "Sauté" function. Add 4 tsp of butter and 2 TBSP of oil to the Instant Pot. Grind until you have a fine powder. Transfer the powdered mixture to a bowl, add 1 tsp of parsley, and mix well. Store the Homemade Au Jus Mixture in an airtight container. You'll need 3 tablespoons for this recipe. Step 2: Searing the Beef Roast Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). In a large oven-safe Dutch oven or roasting pan, melt 4 tsp of butter and 2 TBSP of oil over medium-high heat on the stovetop. Once the butter is melted and the oil is hot, carefully add the beef roast. Sear the roast on all sides for about 3-4 minutes per side or until it's nicely browned. Remove the roast from the Dutch oven and set it aside. Step 3: Preparing the Roast Add 3 tablespoons of the Homemade Au Jus Mixture to the Dutch oven. Pour in 1/2 cup of Pepperoncini Pepper juice. Place 5 Pepperoncini Peppers on top of the roast and around it. Pour in 2 cups of Beef Broth. Step 4: Cooking the Roast Cover the Dutch oven with a lid or aluminum foil. Place the Dutch oven in the preheated oven. Roast the beef for approximately 3-4 hours, or until it becomes tender and easily shreds with a fork. This timing can vary depending on the size and type of roast, so use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C). Once the roast is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Step 5: Shredding and Thickening Carefully remove the roast from the Dutch oven and place it on a cutting board or serving platter. Use two forks to shred the beef. Step 6: Cooking Potatoes and Carrots In the same Dutch oven, add chunked potatoes and baby carrots. Cover the Dutch oven again and return it to the oven. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked carrots and potatoes to the platter as well. Step 8: Enjoy! Serve your Mississippi Pot Roast with the delicious homemade au jus, roasted potatoes, and carrots. Enjoy this flavorful and hearty meal straight from the oven! Thank you so much for supporting my site Mississippi Pot Roast Tips and Storage. Choose the Right Cut of Beef: When making Mississippi Pot Roast, you can use a bone-in or boneless beef roast. Chuck roast or bottom round roast are excellent choices as they become tender and flavorful when slow-cooked. Searing the Meat: Searing the meat before slow-cooking it adds flavor by caramelizing the surface. Don't skip this step, as it enhances the overall taste of the dish. Homemade Au Jus Mixture: Making your own au jus mix using the homemade blend mentioned in the recipe adds depth of flavor. It's a great way to control the salt and seasonings to your preference. Pepperoncini Peppers: The mild, tangy flavor of pepperoncini peppers gives the dish its unique taste. Adjust the number of peppers used based on your preferred level of spiciness. Corn Starch Mixture: The corn starch mixture is used to thicken the gravy. Add it gradually until you reach your desired thickness. Storage: Refrigerator: Store any leftover Mississippi Pot Roast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Freezing: If you have prepared a large batch or want to freeze portions for later use, follow these steps: Allow the cooked Mississippi Pot Roast to cool to room temperature. Divide it into portion-sized servings. Place each portion in an airtight freezer-safe container or a heavy-duty freezer bag. Squeeze out as much air as possible to minimize freezer burn. Label the containers or bags with the date. Freeze for up to 3 months. Reheating: When reheating, you can do so in the microwave for individual servings or on the stovetop in a saucepan for larger quantities. Alternatively, you can reheat it in the oven by covering it with foil and warming it at 325°F (163°C) until heated through. Gravy Separation: When reheating, you may notice that the gravy separates or thickens further. Simply add a bit of water or beef broth and stir gently to restore the desired consistency. Potatoes and Carrots: If you have leftover roasted potatoes and carrots, store them separately from the roast to prevent them from becoming too soft. They can be reheated in the oven or microwave. By following these tips and proper storage techniques, you can enjoy the delicious flavors of Mississippi Pot Roast for days to come, whether you're storing leftovers or preparing it in advance for convenient meals.

Add the vegetable oil and allow it to heat up. Add half of the flour to the hot oil and whisk it vigorously to form a smooth paste, creating the base for the gravy (roux). Continue whisking the roux until it turns a dark brown color. This will take about 20 minutes, and the aroma should be reminiscent of popcorn when it's done. Add the coffee granules to the roux and mix well. Initially, they might clump a little, but keep whisking until they break down into tiny particles. Add the beef bouillon cubes to the mixture and keep whisking. As they soften, crush them with the whisk to ensure they blend into the gravy. Incorporate the remaining flour into the gravy while whisking. Tiny beads of flour may appear, but don't worry; they will dissolve as you add the beef broth. Pour in the beef broth and whisk until everything is thoroughly blended, creating a smooth and flavorful gravy. Continue whisking the gravy until it reaches the desired thickness. It should coat the back of a spoon nicely. Add the salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning as needed. Enjoy your homemade Instant Pot beef gravy! Serve it with your favorite roasted meats, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, or any other dishes that call for a rich and savory sauce. This hearty gravy will elevate your meals and impress your family and guests. Happy cooking! Thank you so much for supporting my site Here are some tips to ensure your brown gravy turns out perfectly: Whisk Vigorou sly: When making the roux, whisk the flour and oil (or fat) thoroughly to avoid lumps. A smooth roux will lead to a smooth gravy. Patience with Browning: Take your time to brown the roux properly. The dark brown color adds depth of flavor to the gravy. Just be careful not to burn it; burnt roux can ruin the taste. Low Heat for Browning: To prevent the roux from burning, use low to medium heat while browning. It might take a bit longer, but it's worth it for the rich flavor. Prevent Clumps: When adding the coffee granules, sprinkle them evenly while constantly whisking to prevent clumping. Crushing Bouillon Cubes: Crush the beef bouillon cubes as they soften to help them dissolve completely into the gravy. Gradual Flour Addition: Adding the flour in two parts (half first, then the remaining) helps prevent lumps in the gravy. Control Thickness: If the gravy becomes too thick, you can add a little more broth to adjust the consistency. If it's too thin, continue simmering until it thickens to your liking. Seasoning: Taste the gravy before adding salt and pepper. The bouillon cubes already have salt, so adjust the seasoning accordingly. Straining (Optional): If you want a smoother texture, you can strain the gravy through a fine mesh strainer after it's done cooking to remove any small lumps. Serving Suggestions: This gravy pairs wonderfully with roasted meats, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, or steamed vegetables. Experiment with different dishes to find your favorite combination. Make Ahead: You can make the gravy ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for a day or two. Reheat it on the stovetop, adding a little water or broth to adjust the consistency if needed. Freezing: If you have leftover gravy, you can freeze it in an airtight container for future use. Thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and reheat on the stovetop when needed. With these tips, you'll be able to make a delicious and savory brown gravy that will impress everyone at your table. Enjoy! Thank you so much for supporting my site

How-To Video Thank you so much for supporting my site Features of Canned Dill Pickles: Ingredients: Canned dill pickles are made primarily with pickling cucumbers, vinegar (usually white vinegar or apple cider vinegar), water, pickling salt, sugar, dill weed or dill seeds, garlic, and sometimes other spices like mustard seeds or peppercorns. Flavor Profile: Canned dill pickles have a tangy, savory, and slightly sour flavor from the vinegar, balanced with the aromatic seasonings. The longer they sit in the brine, the more pronounced the flavors become. Crispness: The key to good canned dill pickles is maintaining their crisp texture. This is achieved by using fresh and firm pickling cucumbers and soaking them in ice water before canning. Canning Process: The canning process involves sterilizing the jars, preparing the cucumbers and other ingredients, boiling the pickling brine, and carefully filling the jars with cucumbers and brine. The sealed jars are then processed in a water bath canner to create a vacuum seal, which ensures the pickles remain shelf-stable. Long Shelf Life: Properly canned dill pickles can be stored in a cool, dark place and remain edible for up to one year or even longer. Once opened, they should be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within a few weeks. Versatility: Canned dill pickles are not only a tasty snack on their own but also a versatile ingredient in various dishes. They can be sliced and added to sandwiches, chopped for salads, or used as a garnish for burgers and hot dogs. Variations: While the traditional dill pickle is made with cucumbers, there are other vegetables that can be pickled using similar methods, such as carrots, green beans, and okra. These variations offer a diverse range of pickled flavors and textures. Canned dill pickles are a beloved staple in many households, offering a burst of flavor and crunch to meals and snacks. Making your own canned dill pickles allows you to customize the seasoning and level of sourness to suit your taste preferences. They are a delightful treat that can be enjoyed year-round or shared as homemade gifts with friends and family. Thank you so much for supporting my site Here are some useful tips for canning dill pickles: Choose Fresh and Firm Cucumbers: Select fresh, firm, and unblemished cucumbers for the best results. Avoid using cucumbers that are overly ripe or soft. Use Pickling Cucumbers: Pickling cucumbers, also known as Kirby cucumbers, are the best choice for dill pickles as they have a crisp texture and are perfect for pickling. Soak Cucumbers i n Ice Water with Pickle Crisp: Before canning, soak the cucumbers in ice water for four to five hours is normal, I do mine overnight. This helps to ensure crisp pickles. Sanitize Jars and Lids: Thoroughly clean and sanitize your canning jars and lids before use to prevent contamination and ensure a proper seal. Use Pickling Salt: Use pickling salt rather than regular table salt. Pickling salt does not contain additives that can cloud the brine. Leave Headspace: Leave the recommended headspace (usually 1/4 inch) between the top of the brine and the lid to allow for proper sealing and expansion during processing. Process in a Water Bath Canner : Process the filled jars in a water bath canner according to the specified processing time for dill pickles. This ensures proper preservation and creates a vacuum seal. Store Properly: Allow the canned dill pickles to cool completely before storing them in a cool, dark place. Check the seals to ensure they are tight and store any unsealed jars in the refrigerator. Wait for Flavors to Develop: For the best flavor, allow the dill pickles to sit for at least 7 weeks before consuming them. This gives the flavors time to develop and intensify, the longer they sit, the better they are. By following these tips, you can create delicious and crunchy canned dill pickles that can be enjoyed for months to come.

Master the Art of Onion Cutting: Beginner Tips and Techniques Acerca de The Art of Onion Cutting: Mastering Different Techniques Onions, often referred to as the backbone of countless recipes, bring depth and flavor to dishes worldwide. While their pungent aroma might make your eyes tear up, mastering the various techniques of cutting onions can enhance your culinary repertoire. Each cutting style serves a specific purpose, from adding crunch to salads to infusing richness into stews. In this article, we will delve into the world of onion cutting, exploring the different techniques and their culinary applications. Diced Onions: Versatile and Flavorful Diced onions are small, uniform pieces, making them suitable for a wide range of dishes. They distribute flavor evenly and provide a pleasant texture. How to Cut: Slice the onion in half vertically, place one half flat on the cutting board, make horizontal cuts towards the root, followed by vertical cuts from top to bottom, and finally, chop off the root end. Minced Onions: A Subtle Flavor Boost Minced onions are tiny pieces that blend seamlessly into recipes, offering onion flavor without distinct pieces. They work well in sauces, dressings, and marinades. How to Cut: Cut the onion in half vertically and make numerous parallel horizontal and vertical cuts, creating finely minced pieces. Thank you so much for supporting my site Sliced Onions: Elegance in Simplicity Sliced onions are thinly cut, offering a more delicate crunch and milder onion flavor. They're perfect for garnishes, salads, and sandwiches. How to Cut: Trim the ends, peel the onion, and slice it horizontally into thin, even rounds. Rings or Wedges: Perfect for Crunchy Delights Onion rings or wedges are synonymous with deep-fried delights. They're also great for burger toppings and fajitas. How to Cut: Slice the onion into rounds, then separate them into individual rings. For wedges, halve or quarter the onion, depending on your desired size. Thank you so much for supporting my site Chopped Onions: Balancing Texture and Flavor Chopped onions are similar to diced but with larger, irregular pieces. They provide a balance of flavor and texture and are great for salsas, relishes, and some soups. How to Cut: Begin with the onion half, make horizontal and vertical cuts, but leave the pieces slightly larger than you would for diced onions. Caramelized Onions: A Sweet Transformation Caramelized onions are slow-cooked until they turn golden brown and sweet. They're perfect for adding rich, sweet flavor to sandwiches, pizzas, and pasta. How to Cut: Slice onions thinly, then cook them slowly in oil or butter over low heat until they reach the desired caramelized state. As you venture into the world of cooking, mastering these onion-cutting techniques will prove invaluable. They allow you to tailor your dishes, whether you seek the subtle infusion of minced onions, the crisp elegance of sliced onions, or the rich sweetness of caramelized ones. With practice, you'll harness the power of onions to elevate your cooking and delight the taste buds of those fortunate enough to savor your creations. So, grab your cutting board and chef's knife, and let the onion-cutting adventure begin! Here are some beginner-friendly tips for handling and cooking onions: Choose the Right Onions: Start with milder onion varieties like yellow or sweet onions, as they are more forgiving for beginners. They have a balanced flavor that works well in various dishes. Cut Off the Ends: Before you start cutting, trim off the root end and the stem end of the onion. This makes it easier to peel and cut. Peeling: After cutting off the ends, make a shallow horizontal cut into the skin of the onion. Then, use your fingers to peel off the skin. This method minimizes handling and mess. Slice Evenly: When slicing onions, aim for even and uniform pieces. This ensures that they cook evenly in your dishes. Chopping Basics: If you're chopping onions, first cut the onion in half from root to stem. Lay one half flat on the cutting board, make horizontal cuts towards the root end, then vertical cuts from top to bottom, and finally, chop off the root end. Thank you so much for supporting my site Minced Onions: For minced onions, make additional vertical and horizontal cuts after chopping until you achieve the desired fineness. Keep Things Cold: If you want to reduce tearing when cutting onions, chill them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before cutting. Cold onions release fewer irritants. Sharp Knife: Use a sharp knife to cut onions. A dull knife can crush the onion cells, releasing more irritants and making you cry more. Cut Near Running Water: Running cold water or having a fan nearby can help disperse the onion fumes and reduce tears. Practice Patience: Don't rush when caramelizing onions. It takes time to develop that rich, sweet flavor. Low and slow cooking is key. Taste as You Go: Onions add flavor to your dishes, so taste as you cook and adjust the amount of onion accordingly. You can always add more but can't take it away if you've used too much. Store Leftover Onions: If you have leftover chopped onions, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use them within a few days to maintain freshness. Experiment: Don't be afraid to experiment with onions in various recipes. They're incredibly versatile and can be used in everything from soups and stir-fries to salads and sandwiches. Remember that cutting onions gets easier with practice, so don't be discouraged if your first attempts aren't perfect. Enjoy the process of learning and discovering how this humble vegetable can transform your dishes with its flavor and aroma. Did you find this Article useful? (Larger rounds cut in half) and add the olive oil. Once the pot is hot, sauté the chopped carrots, and minced garlic until the vegetables become tender. Add the rinsed split peas, and the rest of the ingredients. Stir everything together to combine the ingredients. Pour in the chicken broth (or water) into the Instant Pot. The liquid should cover all the ingredients by an inch or so. If you prefer a thicker soup, you can reduce the amount of liquid slightly. Cancel the Sauté function, close the Instant Pot lid, and make sure the steam release valve is set to the "Sealing" position. Select the "Soup" or "Manual" setting and set the cooking time to 12-15 minutes at high pressure. The actual cooking time will vary based on the model and size of your Instant Pot. Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for about 10-15 minutes. Then carefully do a quick release of any remaining pressure by turning the steam release valve to "Venting." Open the Instant Pot lid and check the seasoning. Add Diced Ham Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve the split pea soup hot in bowls and enjoy it on its own or with some crusty bread on the side. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to several days. Like the stovetop version, the flavors tend to improve with time. Thank you so much for supporting my site Stove Top Directions Rinse the split peas: Start by rinsing the dried split peas under cold water in a strainer or colander. Remove any debris or impurities. Sauté the the carrots, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Sauté until the vegetables become tender. Add split peas and seasoning: Stir in the rinsed split peas, Mix everything together. Add liquid: Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth (or water) into the pot. The liquid should cover all the ingredients by an inch or so. If you prefer a thicker soup, you can reduce the amount of liquid slightly. Bring to a boil: Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the soup simmer. Simmer the soup: Cover the pot with a lid, leaving it slightly ajar to allow steam to escape. Let the soup simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. The split peas should become tender and start to break down, creating a thick and creamy texture. Check seasoning: Taste the soup and add salt and pepper to your liking. Remember that if you added ham or ham hock, they might already add some saltiness, so adjust accordingly. Add Ham 30 Minutes before soup is finished. Serve: Ladle the hot split pea soup into bowls and enjoy it on its own or with some crusty bread on the side. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to several days. The flavors tend to improve with time, so it's a great soup to make ahead. Enjoy! how come you don't need to add water Note: You don't need to add water to the blackberry cobbler recipe because the blackberries release their own natural juices as they bake. When you combine the fresh or thawed frozen blackberries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, it creates a mixture that naturally thickens as it cooks. The sugar and cornstarch draw out the juices from the blackberries and form a thickened, syrupy filling. The cobbler topping, when placed over the fruit mixture, absorbs some of these juices during baking, resulting in a tender and flavorful topping. So, there's no need to add additional water to the filling, as the blackberries provide sufficient moisture for the cobbler to come together beautifully during the baking process.
