Corn Beef and Cabbage Share Don’t forget to check out my Instagram account – Or give me a follow on Facebook or see what I am pinning on Pinterest or Twitter ! This corn beef and cabbage is made with bacon, and is out of this world good! It may be the most famous dish to eat on St. Patrick's Day, but this Irish-American corned beef recipe is a favorite at our table all year long. I don't use the seasoning packet that comes with corn beef because biting down on hard round pepper with tender meat is not my ideal meal LOL. Make it in the crock pot or instant pot, we have directions for both Enjoy!~ You Will Need 2.53 Pound Corn Beef 4 Cups Chicken Broth 1/2 Pound Bacon 2 TBSP Minced Garlic 1 tsp Onion Powder 1 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Pepper 6 Red Medium Potatoes 3 Cups Baby Carrots 1 Lg Onion (quartered) 1 Medium Head Cabbage Thank you so much for supporting my site How to make Instant Pot Corn Beef and Cabbage Start by adding the chicken broth to your Instant Pot. If your broth is frozen, you can use the "Sauté" function to melt it. Stir occasionally until it's fully thawed. Add the corned beef, bacon, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the Instant Pot with the broth. Place the lid on the Instant Pot, ensuring that it's set to the "Sealing" position, not "Venting." Select the "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" function and set the timer for 90 minutes. When the timer goes off, allow the pressure valve to release naturally (NR), which means waiting for the pressure to drop on its own. This may take some time. Once the pressure valve has dropped, carefully do a quick release to release any remaining pressure. Carefully remove the corned beef from the Instant Pot and transfer it to a plate. It will be very tender, so be gentle. Leave the bacon in the cooking liquid, and cut it into small pieces. Cover the corned beef with aluminum foil and let it rest for about 10 minutes. While the corned beef is resting, prepare the vegetables. Quarter the cabbage, chop the red potatoes, measure the carrots, and quarter the onion. Add all the prepared vegetables to the Instant Pot with the cooking juices from the corned beef and bacon. Place the lid back on the Instant Pot and set the timer for 10 minutes. Once the timer is done, do a quick release to release the pressure. While the vegetables are cooking, slice the rested corned beef into thin slices. Transfer the sliced corned beef to a serving platter, placing it in the center. Arrange the cooked vegetables around the corned beef on the serving platter. Drizzle some of the cooking juices over the corned beef and vegetables for added flavor. Serve your delicious Instant Pot Corned Beef and Cabbage and enjoy your meal! Thank you so much for supporting my site How to make Oven Corn Beef and Cabbage Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). In a large, oven-safe roasting pan or Dutch oven, place the 2.53 pounds of Corned Beef. Add the 4 cups of Chicken Broth to the roasting pan, ensuring that it partially covers the corned beef. Lay the 1/2 pound of Bacon over the top of the corned beef. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of Minced Garlic, 1 teaspoon of Onion Powder, 1 teaspoon of Salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of Pepper over the bacon and corned beef. Cover the roasting pan or Dutch oven with a lid or tightly with aluminum foil. Place the covered roasting pan in the preheated oven. Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the corned beef is tender and can be easily pierced with a fork. The cooking time may vary based on the size and thickness of the meat, so check it periodically. While the corned beef is roasting, prepare the vegetables. Quarter the Cabbage, chop the 6 Red Medium Potatoes, measure the 3 cups of Baby Carrots, and quarter the Large Onion. After the corned beef has roasted for the required time, carefully remove it from the oven. Add the prepared vegetables (cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and onion) to the roasting pan around the corned beef. Cover the roasting pan again with the lid or foil. Return the pan to the oven and roast for an additional 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the vegetables are tender. Carefully remove the roasting pan from the oven. Transfer the corned beef to a serving platter and slice it. Serve the sliced corned beef along with the roasted vegetables and bacon. Enjoy your homemade oven-roasted Corned Beef and Cabbage! Thank you so much for supporting my site How to make Crock Pot Corn Beef and Cabbage Start by placing the 2.53 pounds of Corned Beef in the bottom of your slow cooker (crock pot). Add the 4 cups of Chicken Broth to the slow cooker. Cover the slow cooker with the lid. Set your slow cooker to the low-heat setting and cook for approximately 7-8 hours. Alternatively, you can cook it on the high-heat setting for about 4-5 hours. The cooking time may vary depending on your slow cooker and the size of the corned beef. While the corned beef is cooking in the slow cooker, prepare the vegetables. Quarter the Cabbage, chop the 6 Red Medium Potatoes, measure the 3 cups of Baby Carrots, and quarter the Large Onion. About 1.5 to 2 hours before the corned beef is done cooking, add the prepared vegetables to the slow cooker. Cover the slow cooker with the lid again and continue cooking until the vegetables are tender. When the cooking time is complete and the corned beef is tender, remove it from the slow cooker and slice it. Serve the sliced corned beef alongside the cooked vegetables and bacon. The idea behind basting is to keep the turkey moist and to enhance its flavor by repeatedly coating it with its own juices or a flavorful liquid. However, modern ovens are designed to maintain a consistent temperature, and frequently opening the oven to baste the turkey can actually prolong the cooking time and result in a drier bird. If you've properly brined the turkey or used a flavorful rub, the need for basting diminishes. Instead, consider using a butter-soaked cheesecloth or a roasting pan with a lid to help keep the turkey moist during the cooking process. Ultimately, whether or not to baste comes down to personal preference, but it's not a make-or-break step for a delicious roasted turkey. How To Make Herb-Infused Roasted Turkey Recipe with Brine Preparing the Brine: In a large stockpot , combine 4 quarts of cold water, minced garlic cloves, rosemary sprigs, fresh thyme, black peppercorns (or ground pepper), brown sugar, lemon juice, kosher salt (or table salt), bay leaves, sage, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to dissolve the salt and sugar. Brining the Turkey (Day 1): Place the turkey in the brine mixture, ensuring it is fully submerged. If necessary, add more cold water to cover the turkey completely. Cover the pot and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. The longer you brine, the more flavorful the turkey will be. Preparing for Roasting (Day 2): Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Remove and Rinse: Remove the turkey from the brine and rinse it thoroughly under cold water. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels, both inside and out. Herbed Butter: In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, finely chopped rosemary, finely chopped thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Carefully loosen the skin of the turkey by sliding your fingers under the skin, being careful not to tear it. Rub the herb butter under the turkey skin, evenly distributing it over the breast and legs. Place one sprig of fresh thyme and one sprig of fresh rosemary under the skin. Stuff the Turkey: Cut the onion in half and place both halves inside the turkey cavity along with the three whole garlic cloves. Roasting: Cover the turkey breast with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking. Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 7 to 8 hours. Remove the foil halfway through the cooking time to allow the skin to brown evenly. Rest and Carve: Once the turkey is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. Serve and Enjoy: Carve the turkey and serve as desired. Enjoy your flavorful, herb-infused roasted turkey! This updated recipe uses the new brine ingredients you provided for a delicious, herb-infused roasted turkey. Thank you so much for supporting my site Brining a turkey can offer several benefits when preparing a roasted turkey: Enhanced Flavor: Brining infuses the turkey with a flavorful liquid mixture that includes salt, herbs, spices, and other seasonings. This helps season the meat from the inside out, resulting in a more flavorful and well-seasoned turkey. Improved Moisture Retention: The salt in the brine helps the turkey retain moisture during the cooking process. This means that the meat is less likely to become dry and overcooked, resulting in a juicier and more tender bird. Tenderizing Effect: The salt in the brine can also have a tenderizing effect on the meat, making it more tender and easier to carve. Customizable Flavors: Brines can be customized with various herbs, spices, and aromatics to create unique flavor profiles. You can experiment with different ingredients to achieve the taste you desire. Uniform Seasoning: Brining ensures that the turkey is evenly seasoned throughout, which can be challenging to achieve with traditional surface seasoning alone. Reduced Cooking Time: Because the turkey retains more moisture, it can cook more quickly and evenly, reducing the risk of the outer portions becoming overcooked before the center is done. Golden Crispy Skin: When the turkey is roasted, the brine can help contribute to a beautifully browned and crispy skin. It's important to note that while brining has these benefits, it does require some advance planning, as the turkey needs to soak in the brine for a period of time (usually 12-24 hours) before cooking. Additionally, it's essential to rinse the turkey thoroughly after brining to remove excess salt from the surface before roasting. Overall, brining can be a valuable technique for achieving a flavorful and moist roasted turkey, especially for special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas . Thank you so much for supporting my site There are many variations and adaptations of the herb-infused roasted turkey recipe to suit different tastes and dietary preferences. Here are some variations you can try: Citrus-Infused Turkey: Add citrus zest (lemon, orange, or lime) to the herb butter for a fresh, tangy flavor. Replace some of the water in the brine with citrus juice for extra citrus notes. Spicy Herb Turkey: Add crushed red pepper flakes or minced jalapeños to the herb butter for a spicy kick. Use more peppercorns in the brine for a peppery flavor. Herb and Garlic Roasted Turkey: Increase the amount of garlic in the herb butter for a stronger garlic flavor. Add additional fresh herbs like sage or oregano to the herb mixture. Maple Glazed Turkey: Brush the turkey with maple syrup during the roasting process for a sweet and savory glaze. Mediterranean-Inspired Turkey: Season the herb butter with Mediterranean herbs like oregano, basil, and thyme. Stuff the turkey with lemon wedges, olives, and garlic. Smoked Turkey: Use a smoker instead of an oven to impart a smoky flavor to the turkey. You can still use the herb-infused butter and brine for added moisture and flavor. Asian-Inspired Turkey: Use ingredients like ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil in the brine and butter for an Asian twist. Stuff the turkey with lemongrass, garlic, and ginger. Herb-Crusted Turkey: Create an herb crust by mixing finely chopped herbs with breadcrumbs and pressing it onto the turkey's skin before roasting. Vegetarian/Vegan Option: For a vegetarian or vegan alternative, you can use a large, whole cauliflower or a plant-based roast. Marinate or brine it similarly to the turkey for flavor. Gluten-Free Option: - Ensure that all ingredients, including the seasonings, herbs, and the stuffing, are gluten-free if you or your guests have dietary restrictions. These variations offer a range of flavors and styles, allowing you to customize the herb-infused roasted turkey recipe to your liking and create a unique and memorable holiday meal.

Spread a generous amount of softened butter on each ear of corn, making sure to cover all sides evenly. Spread the shredded Parmesan cheese out on a plate and roll each ear in the cheese to coat it. Season with Salt and Pepper: Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper over each ear of corn. Adjust the amount of seasoning according to your taste preferences. Instant Pot Setup: Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of your Instant Pot. Insert a trivet or a steamer basket. Wrap in Foil: Wrap each ear of corn individually in aluminum foil, ensuring they are tightly sealed. (add more cheese inside the foil around corn if needed) Pressure Cook: Place the wrapped corn on the trivet or steamer basket inside the Instant Pot. Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to manual pressure cooking mode for 3-4 minutes, depending on the size and tenderness of your corn. Make sure the pressure release valve is set to "Sealing." Natural Release: Once the cooking time is complete, allow the Instant Pot to do a natural release for about 5 minutes. Then, carefully switch the pressure release valve to "Venting" to release any remaining pressure. Final Cheese Coating: Carefully remove the corn from the Instant Pot and unwrap the foil packets. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded Parmesan cheese over each ear of corn, reserving some cheese for later. Melt the Cheese: Place the corn on a baking sheet and put it under a broiler for a few minutes until the cheese on top melts and develops a golden brown color. Serve: Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, remove the corn from the oven. Allow it to cool slightly before serving, to prevent burns. Garnish with a little extra black pepper or more shredded Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your Instant Pot Baked Parmesan Corn on the Cob, a flavorful and convenient twist on the classic side dish! Thank you so much for supporting my site Oven Directions Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare the Corn: Remove the husks and silk strands from each ear of corn. Season with Butter and Olive Oil: Gently rub each ear of corn with olive oil to help the seasoning stick. Spread a generous amount of softened butter on each ear of corn, making sure to cover all sides evenly. Spread the shredded Parmesan cheese out on a plate and roll each ear in the cheese to coat it, pressing it into the cheese to coat, place a little extra on top before rolling them in foil. Season with Salt and Pepper: Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper over each ear of corn. Adjust the amount of seasoning according to your taste preferences. Wrap in Foil: Individually wrap each ear of corn in aluminum foil, ensuring they are tightly sealed. This step will help steam the corn and maintain its moisture during baking. Bake in the Oven: Place the wrapped corn on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes. The steam created by the foil will cook the corn until tender. Final Cheese Coating: After 45 minutes, carefully remove the corn from the oven. Open the foil packets and generously sprinkle shredded Parmesan cheese over each ear of corn. Remember to save some cheese for later. Return to the Oven: Put the corn back in the oven, with the foil opened, and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese on top melts and develops a golden brown color. Serve: Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, take the corn out of the oven. Allow it to cool slightly before serving, to prevent burns. You can garnish with a little extra black pepper or more shredded Parmesan cheese if desired I also sprinkled dried basil on top for a beautiful presentation. Enjoy: Present your delectable baked Parmesan corn on the cob as a side dish during your meal. The fusion of sweet corn, melted cheese, and savory seasonings will undoubtedly delight your taste buds! Thank you so much for supporting my site Achieving that perfect cheesy coating on your corn is easy! Here are some tips to ensure the cheese sticks flawlessly to the corn: Apply Moisture First: Before rolling the corn in cheese, gently rub each ear with a thin layer of olive oil or melted butter. This slight moisture helps create a base for the cheese to adhere to. Optimal Cheese Consistency: Make sure the shredded Parmesan cheese is fine and not too clumpy. This ensures an even coating on the corn. Roll and Press: After applying the oil or butter, roll each ear of corn in the shredded Parmesan cheese. As you roll, press the cheese onto the corn to help it adhere better. Gentle Patting: If some cheese doesn't stick initially, gently pat it onto the corn using your fingers. The residual moisture from the oil or butter can help the cheese adhere better. Chill Before Baking: After applying the cheese, consider placing the corn in the fridge for a short while. This can help the cheese set and adhere more firmly before baking. Baking Time: Make sure to follow the baking instructions, as the heat in the oven will help melt the cheese slightly and adhere it to the corn.

Thank you so much for supporting my site Beginner smoker tips to help you get started with smoking food: Choose the Right Smoker: Start with a user-friendly smoker, such as an electric or propane smoker, which is easier to control for beginners. Season Your Smoker: Before your first use, season (or "cure") your smoker according to the manufacturer's instructions. This helps remove any manufacturing residues and prepares your smoker for cooking. Start with Simple Recipes: Begin with uncomplicated recipes, like chicken or ribs, to get a feel for your smoker and build confidence. Use Quality Wood Chips: Experiment with different wood chips (e.g., hickory, apple, cherry) to discover the flavors you like best. Soak wood chips in water for 30 minutes before use to create smoke. Maintain a Consistent Temperature: Keep the smoker at a steady temperature by adjusting the vents or heat source as needed. Invest in a reliable thermometer to monitor the temperature accurately. Preheat Your Smoker: Preheat your smoker to the desired temperature before adding food. This helps stabilize the cooking environment. Keep the Lid or Door Closed: Resist the temptation to open the smoker frequently, as this can cause temperature fluctuations and extend cooking times. Patience Is Key: Smoking is a slow and low cooking method. Be patient and allow the meat to cook for the recommended time to achieve the best results. Use a Water Pan: Many smokers come with a water pan, which helps regulate temperature and adds moisture to the cooking environment. Ensure it's filled during smoking. Brine or Marinate: Consider brining or marinating your meat before smoking to enhance flavor and tenderness. Learn About Smoking Woods: Different types of wood impart unique flavors. Learn which woods pair best with specific meats for optimal results. Safety First: Practice food safety by keeping raw meat separate from other foods and cooking meat to safe internal temperatures. Rest the Meat: Allow smoked meat to rest for a few minutes before slicing. This helps retain juices and flavor. Experiment and Keep Records: Don't be afraid to experiment with flavors and techniques. Keep a smoking journal to note what works and what doesn't. Cleanup and Maintenance: Clean your smoker regularly to prevent the buildup of grease and residue. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for maintenance. Join Smoking Communities: Connect with fellow smokers and barbecue enthusiasts online or locally to learn from their experiences and get tips. Enjoy the Process: Smoking is not just about the end result; it's also about the experience. Enjoy the process of tending to your smoker and savoring the aromas. Remember that smoking is a skill that improves with practice. Don't get discouraged if your first attempts aren't perfect. Keep learning, trying new recipes, and enjoying the delicious results of your efforts! Thank you so much for supporting my site The best smoking woods depend on your personal taste preferences and the type of meat you're smoking. Different woods impart distinct flavors to your smoked food. Here are some popular smoking woods and the types of meats they pair well with: Hickory: Hickory is a versatile wood that provides a strong, smoky flavor. It's excellent for pork (especially ribs and shoulders), beef, and poultry. Use it sparingly for milder meats like chicken. Mesquite: Mesquite is known for its bold and intense smoky flavor. It's a popular choice for beef, especially brisket. Be cautious when using mesquite, as it can easily overpower lighter meats. Apple: Applewood offers a mild and sweet smoke that complements poultry, pork (especially ribs and pork chops), and seafood. It's a good choice for a wide range of meats. Cherry: Cherrywood provides a slightly sweet and fruity smoke flavor, making it ideal for pork, poultry, and game meats. It can also enhance the color of your food, giving it a beautiful reddish hue. Oak: Oakwood offers a medium smoky flavor that pairs well with beef, pork, and poultry. It's a well-balanced choice for various meats. Pecan: Pecan wood has a rich and nutty flavor that works nicely with poultry, pork, and beef. It's a popular choice in Southern barbecue. Maple: Maplewood imparts a mild and slightly sweet smoke, making it a good match for pork, poultry, and even vegetables. It's a versatile option. Alder: Alderwood provides a delicate and subtly sweet smoke flavor, making it ideal for seafood, especially salmon. It's also used for poultry and pork. Peach: Peach wood offers a fruity and mild smoky flavor that complements poultry, pork, and lighter meats. It's less common but worth trying. Plum: Plum wood is similar to cherrywood, providing a sweet and fruity smoke that works well with pork and poultry. When choosing smoking woods, consider the intensity of the wood's flavor and how it pairs with the meat you're smoking. It's also fun to experiment and combine different woods to create unique flavor profiles. Keep in mind that using too much wood can result in an overpowering smoke flavor, so moderation is key. Ultimately, the best smoking wood is the one that suits your taste and the specific dish you're preparing.

Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes 1 cup fresh buttermilk (cold) 4 tablespoons additional all-purpose flour (for dusting and adjusting consistency) Thank you for supporting our site! How do you make Easy Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits in Minutes? Instructions: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, quickly cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. The butter should be pea-sized or smaller. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the cold fresh buttermilk. Stir the mixture until just combined. If the dough seems too sticky, gradually add the additional 4 tablespoons of flour until it comes together. Do not overmix; it's okay if there are some lumps. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a couple of times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each. Gather any remaining dough, gently pat it out again, and cut out more biscuits until you've used all the dough. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top. Optional: Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven for added flavor. Allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings! Flavor Enhancements: Herbs: Add chopped fresh herbs such as parsley, chives, or thyme to the dough for a savory twist. Cheese: Fold in grated cheese like cheddar, parmesan, or a blend of your favorites for a cheesy flavor. Tips and Tricks for Flawless, Fluffy Biscuits! Chilled Cookie Cutter: Place your normal-sized round cookie cutter in the freezer for a few minutes before cutting the biscuits. This helps create cleaner edges and prevents the dough from sticking. Flour the Cutter: Dip the edges of the cookie cutter in flour before each cut to prevent sticking and ensure a smooth release of the biscuit dough. Press Straight Down: When cutting the biscuits, press the cookie cutter straight down into the dough without twisting. Twisting can seal the edges and affect the biscuits' rise. Size Consistency: Using a normal-sized cookie cutter ensures more standard-sized biscuits. Apply uniform pressure when cutting to maintain consistent sizing for even baking. Dust with Flour Between Cuts: After each biscuit cut, dip the cookie cutter in flour again to prevent sticking. This ensures a clean cut for each biscuit. Flour the Work Surface: Keep the work surface well-floured to prevent the dough from sticking. This helps in easy transfer of the cut biscuits to the baking sheet. Gather and Re-roll Scraps: After cutting out as many biscuits as possible, gather the remaining scraps, gently pat them out, and cut additional biscuits. Try to minimize the number of times you re-roll the scraps to maintain flakiness. Close Placement on Baking Sheet: Arrange the normal-sized biscuits relatively close together on the baking sheet. This encourages the biscuits to support each other as they rise during baking. Adjust Baking Time: Normal-sized biscuits may require a standard baking time. Keep an eye on them, and once the tops are golden brown, they should be ready . Thank you for supporting our site! Biscuits for Once-A-Month Cooking (OAMC) and freezing Prepare the Dough: Follow the biscuit recipe until you have a well-mixed dough. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the biscuit dough to the desired thickness. Place on a Baking Sheet: Arrange the cut-out biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they are not touching each other. Flash Freeze: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 1-2 hours or until the individual biscuits are firm. Wrap and Store: Once the biscuits are firm, remove them from the freezer. Individually wrap each biscuit in plastic wrap or place them in a single layer in a resealable plastic bag. Label the bag with the date and any baking instructions. Thaw the Turkey: Make sure to thaw the leftover turkey completely in the refrigerator if it's frozen. Thawing times may vary depending on the turkey's size, so plan ahead. Prepare the Broccoli: In a large saucepan, add the broccoli and enough water to cover. Bring it to a boil and cook until desired tenderness is reached, usually about 10-15 minutes. Drain the broccoli and return it to the pan. Add garlic powder, butter, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir well and keep it warm. Mashed Potatoes: Peel, wash, and chop the potatoes into chunks. In a large pot, add the potatoes and cover with water. Boil until they're tender, usually about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash them with butter, sour cream, salt, pepper, half & half, and garlic powder until creamy. Keep warm. Turkey and Gravy: In a separate large saucepan, combine the shredded turkey, gravy packet, and turkey broth. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it's heated through. Thicken the Gravy: In a small bowl, mix the flour with enough water to make a thin paste. Gradually add this paste to the turkey and gravy mixture while stirring continuously. Allow it to simmer until the gravy thickens, usually about 5-10 minutes. Serve: To serve, spoon a generous portion of mashed potatoes onto each plate. Top the potatoes with the turkey and gravy mixture. Sprinkle shredded Colby Jack cheese on top for added flavor and creaminess. Serve alongside the seasoned broccoli. Top Cooking Tips for Success Prep Work: Before you start, make sure to have all your ingredients measured, chopped, and ready to go. This will help streamline the cooking process and prevent any last-minute scrambling. Turkey Broth: If you don't have leftover turkey broth, you can use store-bought chicken or turkey broth. It will still add great flavor to your gravy. Thickening Gravy: When adding the flour mixture to thicken the gravy, be sure to whisk it well into the broth to avoid lumps. If lumps do form, you can strain the gravy to remove them. Turkey Selection: If you're using leftover turkey, make sure it's fully cooked and safe to eat. You can also use fresh turkey, but adjust the cooking time accordingly. Customize Flavors: Feel free to adjust the seasonings to suit your taste. If you like your mashed potatoes creamier, add more sour cream or butter. If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, increase the garlic powder. Cheese Variation: While the recipe suggests Colby Jack cheese, you can experiment with other cheese varieties like cheddar, Parmesan, or even a blend to customize the flavor. Broccoli Doneness: Boil the broccoli to your preferred level of tenderness. Some people like it with a bit of crunch, while others prefer it very tender. Adjust the cooking time accordingly. Sweet potato mash adds a naturally sweet and earthy element to the meal. Cheese Varieties: Experiment with different cheese types like sharp cheddar, Gruyère, or Swiss to create unique flavor profiles for your mashed potatoes. Garlic Lovers' Delight: If you're a garlic enthusiast, increase the amount of garlic powder or roast some garlic cloves to mix into the mashed potatoes for an extra burst of garlic flavor. Spicy Broccoli: For a kick of heat, toss the boiled broccoli with red pepper flakes or drizzle it with a spicy sauce like sriracha or buffalo sauce. Real Bacon Bits: For a savory twist, top the mashed potatoes with crispy bacon bits before pouring the gravy. Chicken Substitution: If you prefer chicken, use cooked and shredded chicken in place of turkey. The recipe works equally well with this substitution. Creamy Cheddar Mashed Potatoes: Replace the standard mashed potatoes with creamy cheddar mashed potatoes. Incorporate sharp cheddar cheese into the mashed potatoes for a cheesy and comforting side. Sour Cream and Chive Potatoes: Create tangy mashed potatoes by mixing in dairy-free sour cream and freshly chopped chives. The combination of creamy and tangy flavors is a delightful addition.
